This Privacy Policy explains how TILDE_, published by Moon Docks, handles information when you use the Android app.

Privacy at a glance

  • Core connection analysis is processed on your device.
  • TILDE_ does not read GPS coordinates or build a physical-location history.
  • TILDE_ has no advertising SDK and does not use behavioural tracking across unrelated apps or websites.
  • No TILDE_ or Moon Docks account is required.
  • Google Play handles payment and RevenueCat manages TILDE_+ purchase and entitlement information.
  • Wi-Fi names, access-point identifiers, trusted-network records and local security history are not sent to Moon Docks or RevenueCat as part of TILDE_'s connection-monitoring features.

1. Information TILDE_ processes on your device

Depending on your Android version, permissions, device capabilities and settings, TILDE_ may process:

  • your current connection type, such as Wi-Fi, mobile data or Ethernet;
  • Android's internet-validation and captive-portal state;
  • the connected Wi-Fi network name (SSID);
  • the connected Wi-Fi access-point identifier (BSSID);
  • Wi-Fi security type and other connection details Android makes available;
  • whether Android reports an active VPN on the current default connection;
  • your preferred VPN app selection and local checks for compatible installed VPN apps;
  • trusted-network choices and Guardian profile assignments;
  • Guardian settings, alert preferences and Travel Mode settings;
  • locally generated security-event history;
  • Connection Health results; and
  • home-screen widget state derived from information already held by the app.

TILDE_ uses this information to explain your current connection, recognise trusted networks, apply Guardian behaviour and identify meaningful connection changes.

2. Wi-Fi identification and Location permission

Android treats connected Wi-Fi identifiers such as SSID and BSSID as location-sensitive information.

TILDE_ requests Android's precise Location permission so it can identify the Wi-Fi network you are connected to and interpret the Wi-Fi security information Android exposes.

TILDE_ does not use this permission to read GPS coordinates, determine your physical location or build a history of where you travel.

Before requesting the Android permission, TILDE_ displays an in-app explanation of why the access is needed.

If you enable Guardian, TILDE_ may use Wi-Fi identification while its foreground monitoring service is active so it can recognise meaningful Wi-Fi changes when the main app is not on screen.

Wi-Fi identity used for these monitoring features remains on your device and is not sent to Moon Docks or RevenueCat.

3. Guardian and notifications

Guardian is an optional, user-enabled foreground monitoring feature.

While Guardian is active, TILDE_ can monitor meaningful connection changes and show notifications about events such as:

  • unfamiliar or risky Wi-Fi;
  • captive portals;
  • trusted-network security changes;
  • relevant VPN connection changes; and
  • Travel Mode events.

Guardian is designed for connection awareness, not physical-location tracking. You can disable Guardian at any time.

4. Trusted networks, profiles and local storage

TILDE_ stores app settings and connection-awareness data in the app's private local storage.

This may include:

  • trusted Wi-Fi networks;
  • Wi-Fi access-point identifiers used to recognise network changes;
  • Home, Work, Custom and Public Wi-Fi profile information;
  • Guardian and Travel Mode preferences;
  • notification and alert preferences;
  • history preferences; and
  • optional local security-event history.

Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for TILDE_.

You can forget trusted networks, change relevant settings, clear history or uninstall TILDE_ to remove app-local information.

Because this information is stored locally and is not uploaded to Moon Docks, Moon Docks generally cannot retrieve or delete it remotely.

5. Security-event history and retention

Security-event history is optional and stored locally.

For the current TILDE_ release:

  • Free users can choose local history retention of 1 or 7 days.
  • TILDE_+ users can choose 1, 7, 30 or 90 days.
  • Older events are automatically pruned according to the active retention setting.
  • If TILDE_+ entitlement is removed, retention is reduced to the Free limit and older events are pruned.
  • You can clear saved history from within the app.

You can also choose whether network names are stored in history. When network-name storage is disabled, TILDE_ redacts saved network names.

6. Reports and exports

TILDE_ can create a text security report when you request one.

Reports are generated from information already stored or displayed locally. Moon Docks does not automatically receive exported reports.

If you choose to save or share a report using another app or service, that destination will handle the information according to its own privacy practices.

7. Connection Health

Connection Health runs only when you ask TILDE_ to run it.

The current implementation performs:

  • a DNS lookup for example.com; and
  • a short TCP connection attempt to 1.1.1.1 on port 443.

These requests leave the device and may be visible to your network, DNS resolver, VPN provider and the destination service. Like other internet requests, your public IP address may be visible to the services involved.

TILDE_ does not attach your trusted-network list, Wi-Fi name, BSSID, local security history or browsing contents to these checks.

A failed Connection Health sample does not prove that every internet service is unavailable. TILDE_ also considers Android's own connection-validation information.

8. VPN app compatibility checks

TILDE_ can help you select and open a preferred VPN app.

To do this without requesting visibility of every installed application, TILDE_ asks Android about the standard VPN-service interface and a limited compatibility list of VPN package identifiers.

The result is used locally to suggest compatible VPN apps installed on your device.

TILDE_ does not send your installed-VPN-app result to Moon Docks or RevenueCat.

TILDE_ can detect whether Android reports an active VPN connection, but it does not inspect VPN traffic or verify a VPN provider's encryption, servers or internal security.

9. TILDE_+ purchases, Google Play and RevenueCat

TILDE_ offers an optional permanent one-time TILDE_+ purchase.

Google Play processes the payment. Moon Docks does not receive your full payment-card details.

TILDE_ uses RevenueCat to:

  • retrieve product information;
  • validate purchases;
  • restore ownership;
  • reconcile purchase status; and
  • maintain TILDE_+ entitlement state.

When RevenueCat is configured in the app, its SDK may connect when TILDE_ starts so entitlement and product state can be checked.

TILDE_ does not have a Moon Docks account system and does not provide RevenueCat with a custom account identifier. RevenueCat therefore creates an anonymous App User ID for the customer/install record.

RevenueCat may process:

  • purchase history;
  • product and transaction information;
  • entitlement status;
  • the anonymous App User ID; and
  • locale and currency information used for the purchase service.

RevenueCat uses purchase history for app functionality, including receipt validation and entitlements, and for purchase-service analytics and dashboard features.

TILDE_ does not send Wi-Fi names, BSSIDs, trusted-network records, VPN status, Connection Health results or local security history to RevenueCat.

The current TILDE_ source does not intentionally enable RevenueCat advertising/device-identifier collection helpers, identifiable customer attributes or attribution integrations.

10. Advertising and behavioural tracking

TILDE_ contains no advertising SDK.

Moon Docks does not sell personal information and does not use TILDE_ to track users across unrelated apps or websites for behavioural advertising.

TILDE_ does not include a separate behavioural analytics SDK.

RevenueCat's purchase service may process purchase history for the purchase-related purposes described above.

11. Support communications

If you contact Moon Docks by email, Moon Docks receives the information you choose to send, which may include:

  • your email address;
  • your name, if you provide it;
  • the contents of your message;
  • screenshots or reports you attach; and
  • purchase information you provide for support.

This information is used to respond to your request, investigate problems, provide support and meet applicable legal obligations.

Support information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes and any applicable legal requirements.

12. Data deletion and privacy requests

You can delete app-local information using TILDE_'s controls or by uninstalling the app.

For personal information held by Moon Docks, or for a TILDE_+ RevenueCat customer record associated with your purchase, you can request access or deletion by contacting:

moondocks.dev@proton.me

If your request concerns a purchase, including your Google Play order ID from the purchase receipt can help identify the relevant record. Moon Docks may ask for additional information where reasonably necessary to verify the request while avoiding unnecessary data collection.

Google Play payment and account records are controlled separately by Google and may be subject to Google's own retention and legal obligations.

13. Legal bases for processing

Where UK data-protection law applies, Moon Docks relies on one or more of the following lawful bases as appropriate:

  • Performance of a contract or steps at your request — for providing requested TILDE_ functionality and managing TILDE_+ purchases.
  • Legitimate interests — for operating, securing, supporting and improving the reliability of TILDE_, provided those interests do not override your rights.
  • Legal obligations — where information must be retained or processed to comply with applicable law.
  • Consent — where consent is specifically required by applicable law.

Android permission prompts are device-level controls and do not by themselves replace any consent that may be required under data-protection law.

14. Your data-protection rights

Depending on where you live and the circumstances, you may have rights concerning personal information processed by Moon Docks, including rights to:

  • access your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion;
  • restrict certain processing;
  • object to certain processing; and
  • request portability of eligible information.

Some rights depend on the lawful basis and circumstances of the processing.

For data stored only on your device, Moon Docks normally has no remote copy to provide or delete. You can manage that data directly using TILDE_'s settings and deletion controls.

If UK data-protection law applies and you are unhappy with how a privacy request has been handled, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

15. International processing

Google and RevenueCat may process purchase-related information in countries other than the country in which you live.

Where required by applicable data-protection law, personal information must be protected using appropriate safeguards.

16. Security

TILDE_ is designed to minimise unnecessary transmission of connection information.

App-local information is stored within TILDE_'s private Android storage, and Android backup/device transfer is disabled for the app.

TILDE_'s Android configuration disables cleartext network traffic for normal release operation.

RevenueCat states that user data handled through its service is encrypted in transit.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

17. Automated connection assessments

TILDE_ automatically interprets connection information and can classify conditions as normal, cautionary or requiring investigation.

These assessments are designed to provide connection-awareness guidance. They do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on you.

TILDE_ does not guarantee that a network is genuine or safe. Wi-Fi names and access-point identifiers can be spoofed, and Android may not expose all information needed to verify a network.

TILDE_ is not antivirus software, a firewall, EDR, a VPN provider or a packet-inspection service.

18. Children's privacy

TILDE_ is a general-purpose connection-awareness utility and is not specifically designed for or directed toward children.

Moon Docks does not use TILDE_ to profile children or serve advertising.

19. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if TILDE_'s functionality, third-party services, data practices or legal obligations change.

When the policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated.
